Steven C. Gove has been practicing law for almost 20 years, during which time he has advised clients on a wide range of matters, with a primary focus on real estate, tax, corporate and trademark law.   Steven’s clients include real estate developers and property owners, start-up companies, small businesses, high net worth individuals and tax-exempt organizations.  Steven often functions as a de facto outside general counsel for clients, and advises them on business and strategic decisions in addition to legal issues.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Robert P. Friedman, Steven worked as in-house general counsel for a group of family-owned companies engaged in real estate acquisition, development, finance and management.  In that capacity, Steven oversaw a real estate portfolio consisting of over two dozen properties, including commercial shopping centers, mixed-use developments, creative office spaces and multi-family residential complexes. Steven advised on all legal aspects of real estate, including survey and title review, drafting and negotiating term sheets, letters of intent, purchase and sale agreements, commercial lease agreements, joint ventures, equity and debt financings, implementation and execution of development and construction agreements, landlord/tenant issues, and like-kind exchanges.
Steven C. Gove attended law school at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 2001.  Steven also completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with honors in 1997.
Professional Memberships and Affiliations
Steven is currently admitted to practice in California and New York and is a member in good standing of the State Bar of California and the New York State Bar Association. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association and the Beverly Hills Bar Association.
Steven previously served as Secretary of the Taxation of Business Entities section of the New York City Bar Association.  He has also served as an Officer or Director of numerous non-profit organizations, including previously as Treasurer of Wheels of Progress, a New York-based charity devoted to improving the lives of spinal cord injured persons, and more recently as a Director of the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet, a GRAMMY®-nominated chamber music ensemble.
Steven resides in Los Angeles with his wife Amy, a yoga teacher, and their three cats.
